Successful PPC Management sometimes begins with a negative. That is…a “negative match.” when you’re setting up your Google adwords campaigns it is sometimes just as crucial to find “bad” keywords as it is to find “good” ones. Allow me explain with a story.
There was a time last summer when my aging dog was down in her hips. I looked around online and did what most animal-loving humans would do and typed “hip problems for dogs” into Google. A bit of fast research later and I determined that the answer I required trusted what is called a doggie wheelchair.
So next, I typed “doggie wheelchair” into Google. Now there were many multi-million greenback firms that were accidentally advertising to a pet-loving fanatic that had no interest in human wheelchairs that spin around and cost thousands of dollars.
So what does that matter, you can ask? As long as someone does not click the ad, they do not have to pay…right? WRONG! First off, I must admit that I am like a large amount of surfers and am click-happy.
But what about the other ones that I had the sense to recognize were not important before I clicked. Well, I must admit that I felt like “punishing” them for being so stupid by clicking on their ad for human wheelchairs, but I knew they had already received punishment enough because I knew that Google was penalising them with a lower CTR and that leads to a higher ad cost in the long game. CTR stand for “click-through rate.” You see, even though I didn’t click their ad, they paid.
Now somebody comes along and searches for “free attorney”? If your search shows up, then you will get the click…ouch…unless you are free, but I highly doubt it. Or what if a highschool student is doing a research paper on a legal subject and types in “articles about attorneys”. Oops, there you are again.
What if neither of the two examples essentially clicks on your ad? Let’s say that no-one is as click-happy as I am, does it cost your money? You bet it does! Google is keeping score of your CTR and “rewards” you for getting more clicks. Yes, you could be chuffed that the freebie-seeker and the high-school student failed to click your ad, but by not clicking your ad they hurt your overall CTR and in the midst helped raise your rate.
To solve this problem and better profit with Google AdWords you you must know how to put “negative matches” in your adwords campaign. First of, what exactly is the Dynamic Keyword Insertion tool?
Well, it is basically a way in which Google allows to insert the search query in to your ad. OK, let me explain in a bit more detail.
If a user enters ‘Guitar Lessons’ in to the Google search bar, then Google will display ads that are relevant to the search query ‘Guitar lesson’. This is know known as a query string / Keyword or Keyphrase.
Now, here where the Dynamic Keyword Insertion tool comes in. Lets say that your ad headline reads ‘Guitar Training’, but the search query is ‘Guitar Lessons’. What we can do is have Google replace our ‘Guitar Training’ with the search query ‘Guitar lessons’.
Make sense so far?
This is called ‘Dynamic Keyword Insertion’, as it simply dynamically inserts the search query into our ad. The most common use for the Dynamic Keyword Insertion is in the Adwords ads headline. But you can use it where ever you want.
Why Would I Want To Use It?
Simple, you want your ad to appear as highly relevant to the users search as possible, and the easiest way to do this is to use the Adwords Secrets tool – Dynamic Keyword Insertion.
Think about it like this, the more closely your ad matches the search query, the more likely it is that the user will click on your ad.
To use the Dynamic Keyword Insertion tool is a very simple process. Lets take a look below:
{keyword: Default_text}
This simple looking piece of code is all that you have to do.
– The {} curly brackets contain the action, so you must place the text inside of them.
keyword, This tells Google to insert the search query here.
Default_text, This is simple the text that you want to use IF, the search query is to long.
For example:
Search query = ‘Free Guitar Video Lessons’
This would be to many characters for your ads headline. So, Google will place your default text there instead.
Here are a few other ways to user the Adwords Secrets – Dynamic Keyword Insertion tool.
• If you want the dynamic text to be all lower case, use {keyword:Default_text}.
• If you want the dynamic text to start with the first letter of the first word capitalized, use {Keyword:Default_text}.
• If you want the dynamic text to have the first letter in caps for each word, use {KeyWord:Default_text}.
• If you want the dynamic text to have the first word to all be in caps, use {KEYword:Default_text}.
• If you want the dynamic text to have the first word to all be in caps and the other words to start with the first letter in caps, use {KEYWord:Default_text}.
• If you want the dynamic text to all be in caps, use {KEYWORD:Default_text}
As you can see, there are lots of different variation that you can use when using adwords Secrets – Dynamic Keyword Insertion tool. The one I use the most is: {KeyWord: default_text}, Simple because I want the first letter of each word to be Capitalized.
Ok, so there you have it, an way to increase your click through rate. It couldn’t be more simpler. Just remember that you can also use it in the body line 1 and 2. Just get creative and watch you click through rates saw.

Many websites include a section or two with the “Ads by Google” above it or below it. These are ads displayed via Google’s AdSense. When you do a search on Google and see ads in the search results pages, they are generally adsense ads.
AdSense – The Yin:
Google’s AdSense is programming that “senses” the content of a page or search. It finds keywords on a web page or in a search phrase to determine the subject of the content. It does this by either “reading” the page, or taking a look at the search term that was typed into Google Search. It can “Sense” which ads in the system are relevant to the content or search and display them – thus: “AdSense.”
Before ads on a page are displayed, AdSense searches its database of advertisers and finds ads that are associated with keywords on the page or in the search. Now AdSense needs to decide which of the thousands of ads vying for position are actually displayed. To make this decision, AsSense looks at the advertiser’s bids for the relevant keywords. The advertisers that have a combination of the highest bid, keyword relevance and best click through get displayed first.
Google tracks clicks on ads and advertisers pay Google the bid price for each click. When the AdSense ad is on someone’s web page, Google pays the website owner a portion of the payment for each click. The term “monetizing” your site refers to taking your existing site and placing ads like adsense on it to make money (or finding other way to make money with websites). If you get 10,000 visitors and 10% of them click an ad that pays you, theoretically, $0.75 per click, you just made $750! AdWords – The Yang:
The other side to AdSense is AdWords. AdSense ads have lists of relevant keywords associated with them. Each keyword is bid on by the advertisers for placement in the results pages and on web sites around the world. The words that will prompt a display of an advertiser’s ad are bid on by the advertiser. When an ad matches the words on a page, the ads are displayed; thus: AdWords. AdWords is the system in Google that is used to place ads that display in AdSense.
You can enroll in AdWords to pay for AdSense ads to drive traffic to your site. The first step is to sign up with Google. The next step is to associate keywords to associate with your site.
The idea is to drive traffic to your site through the use of relevant ads. The more relevant the ad to your content, the more targeted your traffic will be. Compose your articles around your list of keywords. Next, write an ad based on the keywords and assign keywords to the ad. You will bid on the keywords at the time you associate keywords with the ad. If one of your keywords is searched for or relevant to a site, and you have a good bid and relevant ad, your AdWord ad will be displayed. Only when someone clicks your ad are you charged by Google.
The more popular keywords are wanted by many competitors, so the prices per click can get pretty high. It is not uncommon for a click to cost $5 or even $10. If you have 10,000 ad clicks, after you account for your conversion rate (the rate that you convert visitors into buyers) you better be sure you are making more than the ad click costs! But it should never break your bank because you can set the bid limits and the monthly budget.
What if you can’t afford $5.00 per click? Since the more popular keywords are so expensive, it is best to bid on less popular keywords because the cost per click is lower. Google presently has a minimum bid of $0.05 per click. If you can get those, you can reduce your advertising budget.

I recently purchased adword miracle by Chris Mcneeny, after all the messages I received about it I had to read it for myself and decide whether it’s good or not. For those of you who don’t know what is adword miracle here is a short resume.
A word about the author, Chris Mcneeny is the creator of highly successful products like Affiliate Project X and Day job Killer, he is a very skilful and successful internet marketer; his main field of expertise is google adword.
Adword miracle is a basic course to help you master google adword. Having read all the other ebook Chris has written I had to read this one too to see if it was as good as the other ones. First I have to say that I have read many ebook on the subject, very good ones and very bad ones. But Adword Miracle is one of the easiest to understand, i actually learn quite a lot about adword. The way it works is that different companies place bids on certain keywords, and whenever those specific keywords are used in a Google search, the corresponding ads will appear, as both text and banners.
These advertisements are usually shown under “sponsored links” besides the main search results. In addition, advertisers who use AdWord ads have the option to make their advertisements visible on Google’s partner networks.
An effective Google adwords campaign will implement a few key components that focus on bringing traffic to a website. The most important component in this equation is relevance. Your AdWord advertisement must present itself at opportunities when those who are most likely to visit and revisit a given website or show interest in a certain product are shown the ad alongside their search results. The most obvious way to accomplish this is to choose keywords that relate to the item you are pitching.
For example, if you run a computer repair shop and want to attract potential customers to your website and eventually your store, you might choose keywords like “troubleshoot” and “computer repair.” Depending on the AdWord distribution with that particular keyword, an advertisement for your shop might very well show up alongside the main search results. This is determined by the quality score of the advertisement.
The quality score is calculated according to criteria outlined by Google, including, but not limited to the number of times an ad has been clicked, that particular advertiser’s account history, and the level of relevance between the advertisement’s text and the keywords included in the advertiser’s account. Based on these guidelines, your AdWords campaign might flourish or suffer.
If users find that their search brings them to irrelevant advertisements, they are less likely to click on it and therefore the ad will suffer, and as a result, the advertiser will suffer. If, however, users are presented with ads relevant to their tastes (as determined by their searches) then they are more likely to click on the ad.
The advertiser will benefit because he is getting more exposure, and because the fact that a single user clicked on the ad will start a chain reaction that increases the advertisers AdWord distribution, putting his ad in favor of others. As a result of this change, the ad will appear more often than others, and the cycle will continue.
Changing Multiple Ads on Google Adwords the Easy Way
Changing all of the ads on your Google adwords account can be frustrating! Here are the directions to change your ads quickly and easily. And it is Free!
Congratulations, you have a Google Adwords account. You may have multiple Ad Goups and each Group may have multiple Ads. Did you know you can change all of your Ad Group Ads at one time? Many do not know about this or they are not sure how to use the AdWords Editor. I will show you, step by step, how to use the editor. This will change all or one of the ads on your account easily.
The first step is to download the google adwords editor on to your computer. You can find the Editor on Google search or in your account. Once this is completed, open the Editor on your PC. You may have to use your search box to find it or you may find it in your Programs file. It does not install a shortcut icon automatically.
In the left hand corner, you will see the “file” dropdown box. Clic on “open account” Click there and a Pop up box will appear asking you to Add Acount. Click there and add the name of your account. Once this has completed you will want to “Get recent changes” This is in the upper left hand corner of the Editor box. It has a blue arrow pointing down, you can’t miss it. Click on this box to update the Editor before you make any changes. This will ensure you are making changes for all of your Ad Groups. It will not automatically update your changes.
In the middle of the page, you will see a column that has five boxes in it. Keywords, Placements, Negatives, Ads, Ad Groups, Campaigns. This is where you may make multiple changes to your campaign. We are dealing only with ad changes here. There are other articles where I Show you the tricks to other changes.
Click on the “Ads” box. This will bring up all of your current ads. You will see a box, with 2 triangles in it, that says “Make Multiple Changes” Click on this box. This will open a dropdown box that has 2 choices, “Add/Update Multiple Text Ads” and “Delete Multiple Text Ads” Click on the former, Add/Update. Doing so will open an additional box, “Add multiple text ads step 1 of 2″. On the upper area, there are 2 rectangles, the first is your campaign, the second is your Ad Group box. Click this box. From this box you may make changes to one or more of your ads. Scroll down to the bottom of the dropdown. You will see Click this. Next, at the bottom left of the big box you will see a very small box that says “Replace the entire contents of the destination ad groups with these text ads. Check that box.
Now you are ready to put your ads in. There is a space, in the body of the pop up. where you will put your ads in. I have a couple of tips to help with this. The first is: Pre write your ads and save them on a word doc or notepad. From there you can copy and paste them on to this area. Also, once you have saved your ads on notepad, you will have a record of what ads you have used in the past and can make a note of which worked and which did not.
There are 3 lines for your Google Ads. The first may only contain 25 characters including spaces. Punctuation is basically forbidden, you can have a question mark or exclamation mark but little else. The second two lines may have 35 characters each including spaces. Punctuation at a minimum. Do not write “click here” or such, as the Google Monster will get you. They will let you know by stopping those ads that do not qualify untill you fix them.
OK, now to put the ad copy in the box. start with the first line of the first ad. Put it in as you would like it to be seen. Then hit your “Tab” button. Now you can put in the second line of your ad as you would like it to be seen. Hit “Tab” again. This is where the third line of your ad goes as you would like it to be seen. Hit “Tab” again. This is where your visible URL will go. The URL you use here must match the destination URL. No re-directs or ghosts please. You can not put, for instance: www.SeeMe.com for the first and www.SeeHer.com for the destination. Sometimes a URL is much too long for this box. If this is the case, simply call Google directly and ask. OK, you have just finished your first URL. Tab again. Now your destination URL comes next. Both URLs must be complete, IE: http://www.mysite.com. Great!
For the next ad, should you wish to show more than one, hit enter. This will put your curser under your first ad. Write in or copy and paste the next ad, using the “Tab” between each line. Complete each line with both URLs, “Tab” in between. Continue this until all of your ads are present.
Now it is time to load these on your Editor. After you have completed writing your ads, hit the “Next” button on the bottom right of the box. This will load your ads. Once this has completed you can hit “finish”. The box will disappear and you will see all of your new ads appear on the right of your screen. Once you have reviewed these, your next job is to post these new ads onto your campaign.
To post your new ads, look at the top of the Editor page. There you will see a blue arrow that is pointing up. Next to the arrow are the words “Post Changes” Click that arrow. A popup box will appear. It will count all of your changes. Once this is done, your will see a box on the bottom right of the box that says “Post” Click on that box. The Editor will go through your campaign and make the necessary adjustments for the pending changes. It will then begin to post the changes, deleting the old ads and then posting the new ads. This could take a few minutes depending on how large your account is and how many ads you are posting. Once the Editor has completed the task, you can close the box. On the main screen of your editor, you will see all of the changes that have taken effect. You can review them there. Next, go to your Google campaign and look at the ads…Ta Dah! All done.

Pay-per-click, or PPC advertising with Google Adwords is a hightly effective way of marketing your website, if you know how to use it. Unfortunately, many people simply bid the highest amount they can afford and hope for the best. In order to make Adwords work for you, you need to have a strategy. You also need to do a lot of homework and testing to create a campaign that will bring visitors to your website, and keep them coming back.
